Golf Leading Forward Day By Day

The best way to start the season is by winning the CJ Cup @ Summit. It was so special for me to win the 20th PGA Tour. Over the past few months, I’ve realized that I’ve never worked hard and didn’t get what I wanted out of it. I think I just need to improve myself a little bit in what I do and while I exercise.

Throughout the week before that win, what I did on the court was trying to imagine every shot I could get, try to see the draw, see the fade, look up, look down and really play was just that. The more I do it, the more comfortable I do it, and it is for me to play golf.

It’s back to shooting and at the end that’s all you have to do outside – hit the shot. Sometimes I’ve forgotten this in my quest to be too perfect, but it’s a nice reminder that you don’t have to be perfect if you want to be a good golfer.

Saturday night at the Ryder Cup, I had finished playing golf. I don’t want to see golf again until 2022. Then I talked about Sunday’s game where I won Xander Sc Chaudele and it lit up a bit. I thought maybe I was thinking of something and I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll play a few more times before the end of the season. “Sunday night at the Ryder Cup, I was like,‘ Let’s go to CJ and try to build this little one. progress. ‘

All I wanted to do with the game with Alex was get a team score. That’s all I can do and I don’t do much in a week. I went out and expressed my intent by doing what I could. I’m not trying to be perfect, I’m not trying to record things that don’t satisfy me.

I just went there to try to win my game, so I did. I think part of the feeling at the end is what happened this week, but it could have been done in the last few months in terms of looking and trying to improve and feeling that I didn’t. no need. don’t look for anything. There’s no point here.

In a radio interview, I said that I feel like I’m pretty good and maybe in the last few months maybe I’m trying to add something to my game or get something out of it. I know when I do what I can right, that’s what I know.

I can win a lot of events on the PGA Tour and be the best player in the world. It’s just a matter of starting to play golf again and play golf my way. It starts with being creative and visual and can be a kind of refinement of technical rather than technical thinking.

Golf is all about progress, and there’s always next week and you’re always trying to improve. The long journey to say 20 wins seems to still be a long way to go anytime you become a professional in the last few years. I think it’s like the 30th in the world when you count the wins in the European Tour, so it’s been a very good job so far.

I remember when I became a professional in 2007, I went to play for the Australian Masters at the end of that year. I got my European Tour card and for the first two days I was tied with Aaron Baddeley and I think he was 18th in the world at the time. I felt like I was thinking, ‘Oh my God, this guy is the 18th in the world. Is it fresh?

Before the CJ Cup started, I was the 14th player in the world and basically, people were wondering if I was going to retire! Everything is relative. I just think that as a kid, I remembered about two days with Aaron Baddeley, who both played really well. She had a great year and I, at the age of 18, really admired her and hope to be me one day.

So I thought it was an achievement at the beginning of my career, that I had to get into the top 20 of the world. So you’ve been through all that, but as you move on, you have to reshape your goals and everything and you want to keep resetting. As I progressed in my career, I had to do that as you continued. You can’t stagnate and stay the same, you must try to keep improving and keep doing more. I think that’s it.

A win in Vegas is clearly a great way to start the 2021-22 season in the U.S., but I’m continuing the calendar year in terms of wins so it’s great to get a second one this year. a year later. Fargo Championships in May.

I think to win most of the years I play, I always want to go back to the point where I get three, four, or five wins a year. Having a lot of wins this year over a year that I would say was a year of decline for me is still pretty good.
